Correct answer option is (B)

To find the angle between the vector Q and the resultant of ( 2 Q + 2 P ) and ( 2 Q 2 P ) , we first find the resultant vector of ( 2 Q + 2 P ) and ( 2 Q 2 P ) .

The resultant vector of ( 2 Q + 2 P ) and ( 2 Q 2 P ) can be simply found by adding these two vectors:

Resultant = ( 2 Q + 2 P ) + ( 2 Q 2 P ) = 4 Q

Now, we need to find the angle between the vector Q and this resultant vector 4 Q . Since the resultant vector is just a scaled version of Q , they are in the same direction. The angle between any vector and another vector that is a scaled version of the first vector is always 0 , because they are parallel to each other.

The magnitude of resultant vector

R = a 2 + b 2 + 2 a b cos θ

Here a = b = R

Then R = R 2 + R 2 + 2 R 2 cos θ

= R 2 1 + cos θ = 2 R 2 cos 2 θ 2 = 2 R cos θ 2

If P = 3 i ^ + 3 j ^ + 2 k ^ and Q = 4 i ^ + 3 j ^ + 2.5 k ^ then, the unit vector in the direction of P × Q is 1 x ( 3 i ^ + j ^ 2 3 k ^ ) . The value of x is _________.

P = 3 i ^ + 3 j ^ + 2 k ^

Q = 4 i ^ + 3 j ^ + 2.5 k ^

= i ^ ( 3 2 ) j ^ ( 1 2 ) + k ^ ( 3 )

= 3 2 i ^ + j ^ 2 3 k ^

| P × Q | = 3 4 + 1 4 + 3 = 2

Vectors a i ^ + b j ^ + k ^ and 2 i ^ 3 j ^ + 4 k ^ are perpendicular to each other when 3 a + 2 b = 7 , the ratio of a to b is x 2 . The value of x is ____________.

For two perpendicular vectors

( a i ^ + b j ^ + k ^ ) ( 2 i ^ 3 j ^ + 4 k ^ ) = 0 2 a 3 b + 4 = 0

On solving, 2 a 3 b = 4

Also given

3 a + 2 b = 7

We get a = 1 ,   b = 2

a b = x 2 x = 2 a b = 2 × 1 2 x = 1

A vector in x y plane makes an angle of 30 with y -axis. The magnitude of y -component of vector is 2 3 . The magnitude of x -component of the vector will be :
