In a pipe closed at one end only odd harmonics of the fundamental are produced. If f is the fundamental frequency then the harmonics produced are 3 f , 5 f , 7 f , The difference between the successive overtones is 2 f .

250   Hz 150   Hz = 2 f 100   Hz = 2 f f = 50   Hz

Correct Option is (A)

n = 264   Hz ,   V = 300   m / s

For fundamental frequency, n = V 4 l

l = V 4 n = 330 4 × 264 = 0.3125 n = 31.25   cm

For fundamental mode, l = λ 4

other possible lengths are 3 λ 4 , 5 λ 4 ,

 i.e.  93.75   cm , 156.25   cm ,

Hence, 62.50   m is not possible.
