Two sides of a triangle are 3 + 1 and 3 1 and the included angle is 60 , then the difference of the remaining angles is

A. 30

B. 45

C. 60

D. 90

Correct answer option is (D)

Let a = 3 + 1 , b = 3 1 , C = 60

Using cosine Rule,

c 2 = a 2 + b 2 2 a b cos C c 2 = ( 3 + 1 ) 2 + ( 3 1 ) 2 2 ( 3 + 1 ) ( 3 1 ) 1 2 c 2 = 6

c 2 = 6 c = 6

Using sine Rule,

a sin A = b sin B = c sin C

Consider

b sin B = c sin C 3 1 sin B = 6 3 2 sin B = 3 1 2 2 B = 15 A = 105

.... [Remaining angle of a Triangle]

 Difference  = 90

If the polar co-ordinates of a point are ( 2 , π 4 ) , then its Cartesian co-ordinates are

A. ( 2 , 2 )

B. ( 1 , 1 )

C. ( 2 , 2 )

D. ( 1 , 1 )

Correct answer option is (D)

Polar coordinates of z = a + i b are ( 2 , π 4 )

2 = a 2 + b 2 a 2 + b 2 = 2  and  tan ( π 4 ) = b a b a = 1 a = b a 2 + b 2 = 2 2 a 2 = 2 a 2 = 1 a = ± 1

Since point lies in 1 st  quadrant, a = 1 b = 1

Cartesian coordinates are ( 1 , 1 )

With usual notations, perimeter of a triangle A B C is 6 times the arithmetic mean of sine of its angles. If a = 1 , then measure of angle A =

A. π c 3

B. π c 2

C. π c 4

D. π c 6

Correct answer option is (D)

 Let  a sin A = b sin B = c sin C = k sin A = a k , sin B = b k , sin C = c k

With usual notations, from the given data, we write

a + b + c = 6 [ ( a k + b k + c k ) 3 ] ( a + b + c ) = 2 ( a + b + c ) k k = 2 sin A = a k = 1 2 A = π c 6

With usual notations if the angles of a triangle are in the ratio 1 : 2 : 3, then their corresponding sides are in the ratio.

A. 1 : 2 : 3

B. 1 : 3 : 3

C. 2 : 3 : 3

D. 1 : 3 : 2

Correct answer option is (D)

Let the angles be x , 2 x , 3 x

x + 2 x + 3 x = 180 6 x = 180 x = 30

Thus angles of the triangle are 30 , 60 , 90 .

Now, a sin A = b sin B = c sin C

a sin 30 = b sin 60 = c sin 90 a ( 1 2 ) = b ( 3 2 ) = c ( 1 ) 2 a = 2 b 3 = c a = c 2  and  b = 3 c 2 a : b : c = c 2 : 3 c 2 : c = 1 : 3 : 2
