Correct answer option is (D)

a is er to b + c a ( b + c ) = 0 a b + a c = 0 ..... (1)

b is er to ( c + a ) b ( c + a ) = 0 b c + b a = 0 ..... (2)

c is er to ( a + b ) c ( a + b ) = 0 c a + c b = 0 ...... (3)

From (1), (2) and (3), we get

2 ( a b + b c + c a ) = 0 ...... (4)

Now | a + b + c | 2 = | a | 2 + | b | 2 + | c | 2 + 2 ( a b + b c + c a )

| a + b + c | 2 = ( 2 ) 2 + ( 3 ) 2 + ( 4 ) 2 + 0 ..... [From (4) and data given]

= 4 + 9 + 16 = 29
